Treasuring Precious Memories

Treasuring the last few weeks with Ana as an only child. Yesterday, after a fun time at our Mommy & Me class, I ran home & threw everything in a bag to have a picnic at the park.  As always, I had my camera with me to freeze some precious memories.

Yes, she is wearing one of my Hair Clips:)) Isn't she the perfect lil Model?!
I have to point out the Heart Shape in the sky that the clouds made on the top left. Cool Right?!
Looking at this picture one would think she was having a blast on the swings...HA! it lasted maybe 2minutes
 "Mommy, a Rock!"

She was just all about exploring on this trip.

Valentine's Bash!

Valentine's Bash!
I absolutely LOVE Valentine's Day! I have loved it since elementary school...the class party's where everyone exchanged cards & candy were Great, but my favorite part was receiving a flower or special treat that the school sold to students to purchase for fellow classmates. It was always fun trying to figure out who they were from. As I got older, it only became more fun & now that I have a kid (soon to be kids) its only going to get better.

This year was our 1st Annual Valentine's Bash and it was a hit! We made Semi-Homemade Valentines,  Reese's stuffed cookies (special surprise from Ana to her Daddy), Heart thumbprints, Two toned cookies and decorated heart shaped sugar cookies and oreo truffles.

Semi-Homemade Valentine's

We made Semi-homemade cards, because while shopping Ana spotted Spiderman & Princess Cards (Which are two of her favorite things right now)considering each were only $1, I bought both.  I didn't want her to miss out on all the fun of making cards, so I cut the perfferated edges of the cards and they were used to decorate the cards she made.

Things we used:
Store bought cards
Construction paper
Valentine themed paper
Tissue paper
Tulle
stickers
Stamps
scissors
Glue
Glitter glue
Paint, Crayons, & Markers
*Then I cut, Ana tore & ripped paper to glue to the cards,  Tearing tissue paper to shreads was lots of fun for her.

Reese's Stuffed  Heart Cookie
Ana & I made these just for Ben...They are really easy & come out great.
1. Cut 2 heart shapes out of rolled sugar cookie dough
2. Place Reese's Cup in the middle of 1 of the heart cutout's
3.  Place another cutout heart onto of the  on with the Reese's & smash the edges with a fork
4. Bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes

                                                   Heart Thumbprint cookie
1.  After cutting a heart shape, press thumb into each side of the heart
2. Bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes
3. After cooling spread Jam in the thumbprint holes

                                                       Two toned heart cookies
                                                        1.  Roll two balls of Sugar Cookie dough
2.  Using a toothpick to spread food coloring into each ball (remember each ball a different color
3.  Roll dough thin, cutout two different sized hearts in each color
4. Place a small heart form one color into a  larger heart of another color
5.  Bake at 250 for 10-12 minutes

Heart Thumbprint Cookie & Two Toned Cookie

Oreo Heart Truffles & Pop's
1.  Crush a pack of Oreo's or place in food processor
2. Mix a bar of Cream Cheese
3. Shape into hearts, then place in freezer for a few minutes
4. Dip into chocolate & decorate with sprinkles
Transform the truffles into Pop's by incerting lollip pop sticks or wood skewer before dipping into chocolate

Happy St. Valentine's Day & I hope you have a wonderful LOVE filled day!
XOXO,
Jennifer

Do you know a Princess/Prince who needs a Crown?

Felt Princess/Prince Crown
I happen to have a Princess who has many crowns, but they are all the hard plastic kind that break easily and just don't stay in place.  So, I made her a soft comfy crown that actually doesn't fall off her head.  If you would like to make one, below are the things you will need:
*1 felt sheet (Any color or texture)
*1 foam sheet
*Ruffled Ribbon Elastic
*Hole puncher
*Scissors
*Crayon or Pen
*Glue (glue gun or school glue..either would work)
*Stuff to embellish the crown  ( I just used things I already had & I cut & sewed felt hearts on b/c Valentines is coming)

Steps:

1. Draw the design of the crown you would like and carefully cut it out.  I just did a simple design because I'm not a great artist.

2.  Trace the felt crown cut-out onto the foam sheet, and cut it out.  Then glue it to the back of the felt crown & punch holes on each end.

3.  Push elastic through the holes, tie a large knot ,and glue down

4. Glue on the embellishments  & you are done!

How easy was that?!! The best part about it was that my little princess was so EXCITED to wear it:))  Just melts my heart when she gets so excited over little things.

Lazy French Toast

Lazy French Toast
This morning I whipped up some Lazy French Toast, scrambled eggs, & fruit.
Just because it's always fun to eat food in fun shapes (it doesn't matter how old you are!),
I thought I would make Heart Shaped French Toast to surprise Ana. She enjoyed it so!
This could be a good idea for a Valentine Breakfast for loved ones, so I'm going to
share what I call Lazy French Toast with you. Don't forget a Heart cookie
cutter to make Happy Hearts for Breakfast!

What you need:
Natures Own Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread
Milk
Eggs
Vanilla Extract

Steps:

         1.  Mix 1-2 cups of Milk (depending on how many pieces of
bread you will be dipping, you can always add more as you go),
dash of Vanilla  Extract, 1-2 eggs (It's really up to you)

2. Dip bread in milk mixture, and then place bread in
large skillet or on griddle & cook until golden brown on both sides

Enjoy!!

As Always, I would love to hear if you try this.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Day 05

                       Love of Joy: Day 05

Today's topic, What you Love to Hate...
There is nothing worse than seeing little ones sick!
Even if its just a runny nose & a cough:((

Make a Treasure Box, in just a few easy steps!

Make a Unique Treasure Box/ Princess Bed
Make a unique treasure box for your little one or as a gift. This technique can be used on any box, for any treasure. Ana & I will be using a cigar box to make her very 1st jewelry box. This would also be great project for little boys to keep  their favorite Super Hero's or Trucks inside.

Here's what we did....
* I gathered things I thought we might use:  Shoe box (with a window),Variety of paper, mod podge, ribbons, felt, fleece, fabric, scissors, parchment parchment paper, & my morning cup of Coffee:)

* I traced the window size I wanted to have, to cut paper
to cover the front of the box.

* I applied a layer of Mod Podge (this is a good time for kids to join in)
* Then we covered with paper, ribbons, felt, tulle & then
applied a layer of Mod Podge on top
*We also decorated the inside of the box

* We glued felt to the bottom, so it would be a comfy
little bed suitable for any princess:)

& the finished Treasure Box or Princess Bed ( we even added pillows)

Please let me know if you try this!!
If you make a post about it, please link back to My Mommy Can...
Happy Crafting:))
Thank You ,
Jennifer

Shoe Love

Joy of Love : Day 04

Today's assignment is What they wear... I chose to document Ana's love of dress up.

These are some of her new Princess shoes she got while we were outlet shopping last weekend.  Awesome deals at the Disney outlet in Gulf port!

I'm also Including a picture with a shoe of mine, because she has been walking around in my heels since she was 1 year 1/2. I think she still prefers Mommy's Shoes! I sure hope we share the same shoe size when shes older:))

I decided to show this pair, because they happen to be my favorite pair, and I LOVE them so.  For one they are the most comfortable high heels I have ever owned. Also, I just realized I purchased them for my wedding shower <3, so I have had them for 4 years now & they are still in perfect condition!  That's a long Shoe Love relationship
